Moxie

We have had an OES rescue dog, Bo Blue since 2001. But, we lost our other OES last November and it is her story I would like to publish:

Moxie was a 'surprise' Christmas gift to my husband, Bob, in 1995 at 3 mos old. She ran into the room full of family and jumped right into his lap as if she knew he was the one. When we adopted our OES rescue, Bo Blue, she accepted him into our (her) home from the very first minute.

When I worked in Russia and was away for weeks at a time, my husband took her out for a walk around 5AM one cold January morning. He slipped on ice and fell (as we found out later, he broke 4 ribs at the backbone). He couldn't move and Moxie stood at his side until he found the strength to pull himself up using her. She stood there taking his full weight of about 200 lbs. until he was on his feet and then slowly walked him home so he could call for help.

She was an amazing friend that we will never forget. We loved her dearly and she got ill last December unexpectedly and died at the Vets several days later. She was apparently very sick but didn't complain to us until the very end.

There is a very special place in 'Dog Heaven' for Moxie.
