YODA and LEIA- Bay St. Louis

Yoda and Leia came to us from a Naples, Fl family due to having no time available for the dogs and too small a backyard (about 10 x 10 and mostly concrete). The dogs had become severely obese and our wonderful foster mom Staci made it her mission to get them down to a good weight. He lost about 25 and she lost about 20lbs. They went from barely able to walk outside to becoming dogs that moved, loved outdoors and eventually playing and chasing each other. Leia’s goal in life became chasing and hopefully catching a squirrel (thankfully never successful) and his job was to run after her.

Through the slow weight loss progress, we kept looking for the right family, one where they could stay together and thankfully our foster mom was willing to keep them as long as it took to find the right home. And then the miracle happened, almost 8 months after they came into rescue. A couple out of Bay St. Louis, MS had shown interest very early on, but had to rescind after they found out one of the couple had to have hip surgery. When they checked back in with us this past February, she had completed her surgery and was almost fully rehabbed back (uses a walker for safety) and they really wanted the dogs. Our foster mom drove the dogs almost 10 hours to do the home check and drop them off.

On recent communication with Rosie and John, we found out the dogs have been to the vet and the vet was just blown away with how gorgeous they are (they are blue eyed beauties). Yoda loves the little ponds on the property! They have learned so many commands and keep a rigid schedule of food, outdoor time and then guarding their people in the doorways at night!
